is where.your business is going to be is it a.home-based business or storefront there.are a few differences so let's hop onto.the internet and get to that application.okay so I'm in the browser and I'm going.to start at google.com.I'm going to use our city as an example.so I'm going to go to WWE city of.Luverne org Here I am on the web page.what we need to do is to navigate to the.business department luckily it's right.here and we can just click on business.licenses to head over for the city of.Laverne.they only do printed applications but.what we need to do is three things fill.out the application determine our fees.and see what zoning regulations there.are first let's get to the application.once we click it we navigate to another.page where we get some more information.this is the basic application and it's.pretty standard for most cities what.you're going to need is a DBA an EIN if.you have one and a driver's license if.you're applying for the first time we're.going to click new application then we.put our business name our business.contact information next we add our.business description I'm going to be a.home-based consulting business so I can.put that here and check this box this.federal ID is going to be your.and number that you would have applied.for previously if you don't have one you.can apply for one using the video in the.card above I will put a dummy number.here to show you what it looks like the.resell number is her seller's permit I.also have a video on this and how to get.one in the card above if you think you.need one check out the video first state license.number this varies from city to city.this could be a contract license number.or a driver's license number depending.on the business if you don't know what.this is you could always call the city.clerk for more clarification or use your.local Chamber of Commerce to help you.out then we put your business type again.you need to know how your business is.going to be structured to check that box.I'll be a sole proprietor here's an.interesting question about a sick coat I.don't know the sick coat off the top of.my head to put here so let's open up.another tab search sick code and that.on our application next is going to be.some address information there may be a.few spaces for you to choose for example.if you're a storefront you would choose.this one if you're a home-based sole.proprietor owners general partners or.members of an LLC you will need to put.all the information for members so make.sure you do that I'm applying as an.individual so I'll just put my.information as a sole proprietor the.final section is fees so let's get to.those the application should have opened.a new tab slots go back over to that.list and choose business fees this time.here is the fee schedule for business.licenses you will need to find the.category that falls in line with your.business description and citko you.your retail business he'll choose retail.from that list now we need to estimate.our tax fees you will just need to.estimate what your gross sales are if.they're $10,000 or less it's a flat $35.if it's more like say $15,000 you'll.need to do a little bit of math our.rules add 40 cents per thousand so if we.have five thousand more than ten.thousand is two dollars so let's get.back to our application I'll put in my.estimate of fifteen thousand dollars in.gross receipts for the next year the.next two boxes don't apply to us so now.we'll have the text number calculated at.thirty seven dollars we have to do one.more thing we need to do our home.occupancy for the home-based business.let's go back to the other tab and back.to the business license home page now we.need to click on the in home business.link one thing first this is the fee $50.remember that it'll
