Check Lists of Personalizing the Form Sl2

[Music].[Music].[Music].so why is the like I said to so special.first of all it inherited all the good.features from the like ASL and meets.robustness weather sealing you know very.good feeling in hand when shooting a.good portfolio of lenses being attached.to it and all kinds of good features and.good stuff in body of that camera.the Leica sl2 goes beyond that so we now.have instead of 24 megapixels of 47.megapixel full-frame sensor we have in.body image stabilization which gives you.between 4 & 5 f stops shooting handhold.with long exposure times you still have.another features and even more features.and the camera also supposed to be even.better weather sealed and the grip also.is supposed to be better than it used to.be before so I'm quite curious to try.this out my unboxing of the Leica sr22.place a couple of days ago today's.Saturday so I have time to actually go.deeper into the Leica s into what the.camera has to offer and maybe most.importantly as a first step putting it a.little bit in context and perspective if.we compare it to other camera systems so.if you look at the camera and get it in.hand here first of all it's a big camera.so this is far away from quote-unquote.compact and it's also a heavy camera the.lenses are heavy the body is heavy quite.nice what you see here the grip is now.covering the whole body there is a.texture on it feels like synthetic.leather and they also improve certain.things so for instance here on the grip.you have now a spare out where your.fingers can rest which is very.convenient when you hold the camera it.gives you a very safe firm grip and it.feels just very very good to have this.camera in hand and probably it's a.pleasure going out and shooting with it.now I think that people are aware that.Leica and Panasonic have kind of.co-development so they cooperate and the.closest relative to the Leica sa-2 in my.opinion is the Lumix s1r and we see it.here let's just briefly look at that.camera you already see some similarities.and I actually also mounted on the.panasonic s1 are here alike.iln so this is the 24 to 90 millimeter.standard zoom lens it's very heavy lens.very nice actually with a lot of Sun.range if you look at that quite well.built and these cameras they look quite.similar and I'm going to show that in a.moment but don't be mislead I mean just.because they look similar and just.because they have kind of co-production.and co-development to some extent a like.eyes alike are and the Panasonic is a.Panasonic so let's have a closer look at.those two cameras.the first similarity quickly to be.recognized is the form or shape of the.camera body here so that looks really.similar if you look at it you have here.let's just put them in this way you have.here the viewfinders the electronic.viewfinders they are both in the.circular form so they look very very.familiar very very much the same if you.look at the rest of the body let's put.this in this way here on both cameras.you have on top display so this is the.Panasonic where this is more rectangle.on the like unassisted square and as I.said the shape after body is a very.similar form and also the placement of.the EVF is kind of in the same place.there is a difference here if we look at.the Panasonic we basically have fallen.Panasonic the motor here and the motile.also has engravings where you see what.you are doing for the like I said you.basically have no engravings so this is.not immediately recognizable from.looking at it what you are doing and.actually also the more time for the like.we're set to and TSL is here and I show.this later when we go into the menu so.there are differences what is absolutely.similar is the sensor and I bet that.Leica and Panasonic develop that sensor.kind of together both cameras have in.body image stabilization the resolution.of the sensor is 47 megapixels on both.cameras and both can also do composite.shots with an impressive 100.87 megapixels of raw image files so that.is something which they have in common.in general let's just briefly compare.and look at the Panasonic you have here.a lot more steering or manual control.elements if you look at that camera lots.of buttons lots of wheels if you compare.this with the Leica as they - this is a.very minimalistic design so you have a.joystick here you have a control wheel.here as I said before this is mainly.used for the motile and for adjustments.you have a dial here you have two.buttons here which you can customize and.you have a play button a function button.and a menu button and here is your.on/off switch so if you hold them side.by side this is really minimalistic what.you get here on the lighter side.compared to the panasonic lumix s1r.let's not put the like aq2 side by side.with the ascent system so here we go.this is my be laughed like a q2 I love.this camera I posted a lot of videos on.about it and showed how to photograph if.that camera also showed image quality.showed pictures I've taken in San.Francisco and other places it's a very.nice camera of course here you clearly.see why the attribute compact quote.unquote.is fully justified for the like aq2 this.is really a compact very lightweight.system if you have them both enhance.this is day and night really really big.difference but of course here you stick.to 28 millimeters so that's a fixed.mount lens here it's just one prime lens.you cannot exchange it or replace it.here you have a full system camera and.you have lots of lenses you can mount I.come to this in a moment and maybe just.for the sake of a complete comparison.let's also get the Leica M this actually.is the m10 P let's look at this one here.in terms of weight more heavy than the.like RQ 2 in terms of size comparable to.the like a q2 but where's the tie lenses.a very very rich system of lenses you.can mount on that camera and of course.in terms of size and weight no match for.the like I said - this really is the.robust camera which goes with you.everywhere into.that's rainwater you know the desert the.forest wherever you want to go for.shooting this is the camera where you.never have to feel that something.happens because the weather sealing is.very robust very solid and you also have.all the versatility in the lenses in.general it's interesting if you would.think about like us lens systems and I.come to that later but this is a typical.amount lens here and currently is.actually very interesting lens I might.want to leave you separately because.this is try and my lens was 16 18 and 21.millimeters from the white english side.you can see this here so here we have 16.18 and 21 millimeter and we can adjust.the lens to different focal lengths.which is exceptional in the Leica.universe of lenses and if you compare.this with this lens here 16 to 35.millimeters and take into account that.the sensor size on both cameras is the.same so we have in both cameras we have.a full-frame sensor here we have 24.megapixels here we have 48 megapixels.it's quite amazing the difference of the.appearance of these lenses here little.brother big brother that's how you could.view them there are lots of lens systems.now you can deploy 4d like I say - and.the first one is the SS system it's I.think a well developed portfolio of.lenses you have I showed before on the.Panasonic s1 are the 24 to 90 millimeter.lens which is a standard zoom it's a.beautiful lens heavy a lot of glass to.be shifted around in that lens I also.have here prime lens for the Leica as L.system which is the 35 millimeter Apple.sorry Chrome and it has a widest open.aperture of f28 so very nice lens it's.actually already much more compact if.you look at it on the camera down here.this way so if you look at that here it.is basically already a little more.compact than the zoom lens here this is.the wide-angle soon 16 to 35 millimeters.this is the 35 millimeter prime lens and.you also have more light in here because.of that why does the open aperture of.f28 3.5 and go up to 4.5 depending on.where you are in your zooming operations.and that of course makes a difference.you're not restricted to SL lenses in.the Leica universe you can actually use.also all the M lenses which are.developed for the M series cameras so.the MDM 10 the M 10 P this is an adapter.where you can mount M lenses to the L.mount system and I mentioned that at the.beginning of the video that there is an.alliance between Sigma Panasonic and.Leica for the air mount system and this.little tiny adapter very lightweight you.can use to mount all the M lenses onto.the Leica SL 2 and this is just perfect.because there are plenty of lenses you.can choose from but now let's go one.step beyond that so you are not.restricted to as L lenses in the like a.portfolio you can also use the M mount.lenses in lighthouse portfolio but you.can also basically switch to other.manufacturers and here's an adapter.which is from novoflex and that novoflex.adapter allows you to mount Canon lenses.so from the air system onto the SL mount.so you actually could use for instance a.tilt shift lens so this is a 24.millimeter tilt shift lens from Canon.and you can mount this easily with this.adapter on the Leica si - or you might.want to go to the 17 millimeter to shift.lens so there are plenty of options you.could use a macro lens from Canon and.mount it on the SI tools and since Canon.on the EF system has EF mount system has.a very rich lens system - this adapter.basically gives you a whole new.perspective on what you can mount on.your SL or SL - camera and then the last.adapter I want to mention is here from.lower Flex again is an adaptive a can.mount Nikon lenses - the Leica M mount.and since you already have an adapter.from the Leica M mount to de LICA si -.you basically can get your Nikon lenses.on your si - and that's why - because.Nikon also has a very good portfolio of.old-school lenses this is a lens I.reviewed in one of my videos on my.channel before it's a very old tilt.shift lens very much.mechanical look here you can basically.shift and you have access to all those.lenses with this adapter here and can.use them in a versatile way on the Leica.SL - so let's quickly transform this.camera here this big camera into much.smaller camera by mounting a lens on it.which is much smaller than the 16 to 35.millimeter lens from the like il system.and in order to make this a bit more.impressive I want to take it to the.extreme and mount a very special lens.from the M system onto my SL - and this.is this one here let's get away this one.look at the lens that's the lens very.small compare it to that big fellow here.and you can mount a lens as small as.this one on the SL - and get perfect.image quality so let's briefly see what.we have here if we get the lens of the.way and come up with closer here so this.is summer on M its widest open aperture.is 5.6 and it's a 28 millimeter lens and.this is a remake of a very old-school.lens like I used to build these days ago.I should probably say these many years.ago and I purchased this for street.photography I used it in the past.there's also a video on my channel where.I showed that lens on a Leica M 10 P.Safari special edition and it's a lens I.like a lot because of its compact size.but also because of its very special.optical properties because you would not.imagine that from a lens like this you.get an image quality as you get it here.and again like always in like a system.this is all manual here or mechanical.you have an aperture ring you have your.zoom ring here quite nice so let's just.take it to the extreme let's mount the.smallest lens I have in my portfolio on.the much bigger like SL - and let's see.how this looks like so in order to do.that we take the adapter where M lenses.can be mounted on the L system we remove.this one here we get here.the lens cap removed and then we mount.it together so that's how it looks like.quite nice let's now take the sl2 and.let's this mount here.the huge 16 to 35 millimeter lens and.let's get the smaller lens here and then.actually we should just mount them on.top of each other so I think here we go.click that's it Wow look at that what do.you think why don't you drop me a.comment what do you think about that.combination here all of a sudden that.big big SL 2 camera has become very.small and look this is almost at the.same height as the grip here so this.might even fit in a large pocket of a.coat if you want to walk around with.that quite nice very very interesting.combination I should say of the smallest.lens in my portfolio with one of the.biggest camera bodies I have but it.doesn't look stupid or ridiculous I.think it just looks sophisticated if you.think about that lens and the.construction of that lens.what a nice shooting this will be if you.use the 28 millimeters on that and since.the image circle for the M lenses is.matching the full frame format because M.cameras have full-frame sensors it's.fully matching and compatible with the.Leica a32 since the M portfolio of.lenses is so rich there are basically.almost unlimited options what you could.mount on the Leica si - and one example.I'm gonna show is here so that here is a.standard lens in the like up portfolio.let's briefly open this up so I can show.this so this is some Acron m12 - 35.millimeters a spherical lens a very nice.lens I like it a lot I used to shoot.with it a lot the 35 millimeters.beautiful built here with the aperture.ring I have chosen this one and silver.focus ring very solid.look at that perfect you can mount this.on the Leica SL - and it.you want to have something very special.you could actually go for this fellow.here and that is one of I would probably.should say one of my most expensive.lenses here because this is the NOK.deluxe and the Nook deluxe is a very.special lens which has a widest open.aperture of 0.95 and that means you can.actually catch a lot of light you get a.very beautiful bouquet and you can do.amazing things with this this is.probably my personally preferred bouquet.master here and you can mount this on.the Leica SL 2 and maybe since it is so.much fun why don't we just do this and.see how it looks like if we mount the.neck looks 0.95 on the Leica as a tool.so there's a button on this adapter.which you have to push and then you can.basically dismount the ambulance I want.to have actually immediately the cap on.it again so that's taken care of now.let's get the narky looks here and let's.just mount the cap let's try to connect.this to the adapter Wow okay that has.style what do you think again if you.want to comment on that let me know what.you think the lens hood actually is here.and then this looks like I should say a.very special combination of a silver.lens with a black body but it looks good.what do you think it looks very very.good and most importantly it's not about.how it looks it's what it can do and.0.95 s widest open aperture as I told.you is my personal bouquet master that.creates bouquet in ways which you cannot.do with other lenses so I might want to.try this out and also post some pictures.in the next week's on my channel then be.compared to like I said too with the.Panasonic s 1r it was eye catching how.minimalistic the design of the SL 2 is.when we compare it to a camera.ts1 are and nevertheless I want to show.now at the beginning of getting the.camera customized for myself there is a.lot of versatility in terms of buttons.you can define and specify how you want.to have them and first of all you have.two customizable buttons here at the top.of the camera body which you can.individually assign functionality to you.have two buttons here which is.convenient they are individually.customizable and since you hold the.camera like this you have here with your.finger basically access to those.customizable buttons you have control.wheels so there's one control wheel here.and one here on top which you can.customize and you have your joystick and.you have a button here and this button.is basically 40m electronic viewfinder.switch between the viewfinder and the.LCD but you can also assign different.functionality to that button here and.then you have an FN button which is a.function button which you can also.customize so there are lots of options.how to set up the camera in a way that.it is perfectly suit in your.photographic needs and you workflow when.you go out for shooting so the way you.can set up these buttons is the same.procedure as on the Leica q2 first of.all let's switch on the camera and then.you can basically first of all here the.FN button is preoccupied with the way.the display appears so this is then.plane maybe let's remove here the lens.cap and so you can get here your level.meter you can get here different.informations at the bezels and you can.also have the full preview on the size.of the full-frame sensor here so that's.the different ways you can adjust this.FN button but if you want to change that.so then you push and hold and then you.actually get a menu and you see here.this is toggle info levels you can also.have magnification here you can choose.from all different options you see here.basically how that page indicator is.scrolling down when you push the.joystick so lots of options you can do.here for instance if you go to.magnification and I press the FN button.then it's magnifying my preview so I can.basically in particular if I do manual.zoom zoom in in my picture and then also.use focus peaking but with a magnified.view that might have a better idea what.sharp and what's not sharp so that's the.way you do this hold change let's go.back to toggle info levels and then this.is occupied by a certain functionality.the same actually occurs to all other.buttons so let's for instance take this.button here currently this is obviously.the switch button between video you see.this here with the microphone level and.photo mode this by the way can also be.switched by swipe so if I swipe the LCD.from the left-hand side to the.right-hand side I'm back in movie mode.if I want to swipe back I'm back in.photo mode and there is a touch screen.functionality here on the screen which.is very convenient if you want to use it.I like to use more buttons so if I have.this button preoccupied that's a switch.between video now and photo now if I.want to customize this I press and hold.it and then I can choose what I don't.wanna have so for instance I could say.here this is good for interval shooting.so I go on here and when I then push the.button it gives me the parameters and.specifications for an intervalometer.setting here which is also very nice so.you can basically customize all these.buttons in the same way again here this.one is preoccupied with ISO so if I push.the button I get an ISO menu here I can.use the control wheel to actually change.my eyes oh to insane levels so I think.this one goes up to 50000 here which is.very high and we look at noise behavior.in a different video but you can also.get other functionality on here you push.and press and then you have for instance.you know white balance let's say this.one here push the button and then you.can scroll here and get your white.balance adjusted in the way you wanna.head it quite nice in particular those.buttons here they are very convenient.because you can if this is your workflow.if you want to have auto exposure lock.for instance on.this button here it's very good to.actually feel it with your fingers press.it when you are shooting and then you.have that functionality and lock your.auto exposure in the menu structure of.the new Leica sa-2 has lots of.similarities with the Leica q2 and there.is only one feature which I wish like I.will bring in a firmware update also to.the q2 and that's what I want to show.now so if you push the menu button once.you end up in a status screen and the.status screen shows you in icon format.all of your most important shooting.parameters in one view and that's pretty.pretty nice so I like that a lot for.instance if you want to change your.metering method you push the icon you.can choose to send await it or to multi.field you know you can customize this in.the way you want it you can also push it.and then use the control wheel to toggle.between these different metering modes.which is very nice same way for.autofocus so here's multi field spot.field zone tracking everything you want.to have by the way here is face body.detection which we have to try out in a.different video so pretty nice but you.can also swipe and that makes it for.people who love touch functionality very.convenient and very quick one of my.first questions when I started to look.at the camera was if I meant to stay the.screen is there any way I can customize.this and I have not found a way to.customize the status screen but what you.can do is you can create your own.favorites and what will happen is we are.now going to a menu setting and in that.menu setting we'll get a new page.between the status screen and the first.page of the main menu and the way you do.this is you go to page number 4 and then.you have customized controls and here.you have edit favorites and here I can.now compile my own selection of my most.important menu entries and let's say I.would be interested in always to have on.that page the drive mode focusing focus.mode and autofocus mode focus assist I.don't need to toggle in the main menu.because I keep this on at all times.but exposure metering might be something.I.wanna have I saw I've been have on a.button later on maybe what I want to.have here is shadow type well for the.time being and for the sake of.demonstration let's keep it that way now.if I go into the menu again and press.the menu button once more you see now.here appeared a new page which is the.little star or asterisk and that slipped.between the status screen and the first.page of the main menu and these are my.favorites which are just selected you.remember drive mode focusing focus mode.AF exposure metering shadow type and.that's it I also have always access here.to the main menu which gives me then the.main menu with all the pages and it.actually remembers where I've been.before the same happens to the status.screen so if I'm on the status screen.there is one symbol here one I can if I.press this I get into the main menu but.you can also use the button here of.course to do this which I find.personally more convenient later evening.I want to go to the lake so Lake Zurich.here and want to do a first few long.exposure shots and the way I would set.up my camera for this is the following I.go into the menu and let's forget for a.moment about the status screen and my.favorite page which I just created.I would also modify this later on.because that was for demonstration.purposes only and let's systematically.go quickly through the menu so drive.menu drive mode sorry single is fine.when I go shooting on a tripod with long.exposure times focusing I don't want to.have intelligent auto focus at this.point in time because I want to have.full control I don't want the camera to.decide what I'm doing when I'm at a lake.taking long exposures so I go for auto.focus single shot auto focus mode I.wanna have spot or maybe field but you.know I go to piccoli for spot focus.assist is something I always use Auto.magnification on is fine for me focus.peaking is fine for me too but I like.blue as a color here and the peaking.sensitivity high or low high is much.better because you see better where the.image is sharp and where it is not sharp.exposure metering I also take spot.exposure compensation relief auto ISO I.will choose.manually my eyes when I will probably go.for a nice or 50 or 100 let's keep it at.100 for the time being here yeah for.auto ISO settings and the maximum ISO is.here specified as 6400 but you can go up.here to 50,000 if you want but then your.picture will probably be grainy and.noisy so nothing I would probably.recommend shutter speed limit you know.all kinds of things you can adjust here.I will not use that at this point in.time and will toggle to the second page.floating ISO is something you can use if.you have a zoom lens and like with this.zoom lens here where we have 16 to 35.millimeters and an aperture starting at.3.5 at 16 millimeters and going up to 4.point 5 and 35 millimeters the floating.eyes Oh is basically making sure that.your ISO adjustment is helping you to.keep all other shooting parameters.constant and adjusts the ISO and that is.something which is comparable to an auto.ISO but it's particular and specifically.for zoom lenses for the file format.always dmg and JPEG never go shooting.without the RAW format format so this is.a digital negative is the RAW format.from Leica because you get more.information you can have uncompressed.raw and in post-processing it gives you.much more options JPEG settings this one.is set currently to large is 47.megapixels and if I crop into aps-c it.would be 20 megapixels which is still.plenty of the solution so we keep it at.this way all to review I typically have.permanent long exposure exposure noise.reduction we keep on shadow type hybrid.I think is good because then the camera.knows best whether it should use the.mechanical or electronic shutter.settings we don't need this is all fine.sensor format you can change from 35.millimetres full frame to aps-c we keep.it off course as full frame here photo.aspect ratio or storage options that's.interesting so you can choose here to.backup on the two SD cards and you can.choose different options here I keep it.at that way and then we have customized.controls we already did this I will lake.a goal.the camera and this is too long for the.video and adjust the camera perfectly.for my workflow typically I want to have.one button for ISO one button for you.know magnification if I do many.shootings and so on and I think this is.a bit long for the video to go through.that here user profiles we don't need.that's all okay.Leica photos is for the iOS or Android.app image stabilization on of course.format card I did this before we don't.need this and then be a good to go.basically this is the way I would set up.the camera for for shooting which I will.do tonight and then at the end of the.video when I'm back tonight probably.show a few pictures and comment a little.bit on the image quality for the menu.part and the settings this is good to go.the last thing we need to do is briefly.look on the on top display of the camera.and then I close this part of the video.so we have this on top display here for.the camera which is convenient if you.hold the camera like this and have it.close to your body it actually gives you.a few minimalistic informations about.your shooting parameters and what you.see here we have menu mode now let's get.this in a way that the light is not.reflecting on the glass here so you have.here your aperture as I said before I'm.now 35 millimeters and then the widest.open aperture is at 4.5 so if I keep.scrolling here nothing happens I can.close the aperture more but 4.5 is my.widest local temperature if i zoom out.to 16 millimeters I can take the.aperture more close but I can now go.down to 3.5 and that's also what is.floating is always good for which I.mentioned before in the menu then the.next thing I have here is the exposure.time you see this can go down here too.oh my gosh this is going fairly fairly.quick so we can go to 1 over 40,000.seconds which basically will freeze.everything that's going on in your.environment and you can of course go up.for long exposure times in the same way.as you can other cameras here let's see.what.to us we can go up to four minutes ten.minutes very very long and then we have.vibes so 30 minutes is to setting it.where it stops and then it goes into.bite mode which basically means the.shutter keeps open until I push the.shutter button again so that's basically.what we have here then we have the eyes.all setting visible here so this is.currently at an ISO of 100 if we go here.to press the button we can adjust the.ISO setting you remember that and we.also have here the storage methodology.and how many images we can store so.currently this is 1966 and we have the.mode control and the mode control works.as I showed before when I push this.button here I can toggle between.aperture priority and shutter priority.program mode and manual which is very.nice and it's in a minute minimalistic.way providing to you two most basic.informations you need to know when you.look at that camera on the top of the.camera without looking into the LCD.display so my test shooting at the.Zurich Lake I had to cancel due to time.constraints but I went to a close by.location and took a shot of light rates.over the Swiss highway so you see here.this is 120 seconds of exposure time and.f-stop of 16 and the focal length of 16.millimeters if you zoom into the picture.it's exactly what I expected from the.new Leica sa - it's clear no noise very.sharp nice lights and colors and in.total a very good result for a first.shooting with the new like is air too.late at night I could not get my hands.off the camera so I was playing with a.very awkward scene here but the most.awkward thing about that scene is not.what you see in the picture it's hidden.in the metadata of the photo itself and.we are going to look at this now so if.we look into the metadata we have here.an exposure time of one fifth of a.second and that was completely hand hold.no tripod involved an F number of four.and a focal length of 90 millimeters so.if we do a little assessment what that.means and what the in-camera image.stabilization is the.here that is just insane in my opinion.is more than what I've ever seen on any.other camera on the market.so let's look into some numbers well.maybe before looking into numbers let's.quickly zoom in so that I can.demonstrate the pinpoint sharpness of.this image here with a nice off 100 of.course completely noise free and the.clarity is just blowing me out of my.shoes given that this is 1/5 of a second.at 90 millimeters so the rule of thumb.for the maximum exposure time is 1 or.focal length or if you want to be on the.safe side 1 over 2 times the focal.length so here we are talking about 90.millimeters so the maximum exposure time.should be 1 over 90 seconds or on the.safe side 1 over 180 seconds Hiba could.leave the shutter open for 1 over 5.seconds means 4 to 5 f-stops of gain.based on in camera body image.stabilization so when I saw this I.wanted to push the boundary even further.so I went to a 1 second of exposure time.with an f-stop of 5 point 6 again at 90.millimeters and here's the result.it is overexposed based on the.parameters I have but it is impressive.and if i zoom in I get almost the same.clarity as I had before when I used 1.over 5 seconds but now I have a full.second of exposure time hand hold no.tripod no axillary means to stabilize.the camera and if you look at the.picture it's still very sharp it's very.clear and nothing to complain about so.repeating the calculation from before we.now have 1 second instead of 1 over 5.seconds and that means we have now again.based on in camera image stabilization.of 6 to 7 f stops which in my opinion is.absolutely impressive so the next week's.since we have Christmas holidays now I.will work a lot with that new Leica sa.tool and collect more experience which I.will very likely post on my channel to.share with people my impressions on that.new I think impressive system camera.from Lika so if you liked my video.please give me a thumbs up if you like.my channel please subscribe enjoy the.Christmas holidays thanks for watching.see you soon on my channel and peace out.
