How to employ The Form 403 Sample ?

here I have a store application but I.currently don't have any products so.let's create one now the problem is that.I can only give a product a name and a.price but I have several different kinds.of products I want to enter in here and.they all have different types of.attributes for example a book I want to.keep track of the author and the number.of pages and if it's a piece of clothing.I want to keep track of the different.sizes that are available and so on what.I really want is for this form to have.different fields depending on the type.of product and I want to be able to.manage those fields through the web.browser as well so they're not something.concrete in the rails application how do.we make a form that's this dynamic well.that's what we're going to be tackling.in this episode first of all I need some.way to a select upfront on what a type.of product is going to be so this form.can look different and I'm going to do.that here I'm just going to have a menu.here with a list of different types of.products where they can choose one up.front to do this we'll need some place.to store the list of product types so.let's generate a new model for that or.actually let's make this a whole.scaffolding I'll call it product type.and for now I'll just give it a name.attribute and let me skip these style.sheets for now because we don't want it.to interfere with our existing ones and.I'll migrate the database to add that.table so here's that generate a.scaffolding and we can create a new.product type here called a book and I'd.really like to be able to add different.types of fields that should be displayed.in the product form for this type of.product so in here I'd like to be able.to add an author field and a page number.field and so on so if we want a product.type to have many different product.fields it sounds like that calls for.another model so let's generate another.model here call it product field and.let's give it a name attribute and also.a field type attribute so that'll be.defining if it's a text field or a.checkbox I will be covering validations.later on so let me add a required.boolean field here to determine if a.given field must be filled in and also I.need to set up the Association so that.belongs to a product type there we go.and all migrate the database to create.that table next I'll finish setting up.the Association.so the prototype has many I could say.product fields here but I don't like to.use the same prefix if the model already.has our prefix so I'll say fields but.only to specify the class name because.it doesn't match this will be product.field now I would like to manage these.product fields in the same form as a.product type which I covered in detail.how to do an episode 196 so I'll be.going through it very quickly here we.want to accept nested attributes for.calling this and that will be for the.fields and we'll say allow destroy is.true and also we need to add it to the.add are accessible this needs to be.fields attributes now in the form.template where we edit the product type.I want to display a list of the fields.or we can manage them underneath the.name field so I'm just going to paste in.the code necessary for this it's just a.fields for call for the fields so that's.going to loop through each one and for.each of those we're going to render a.partial which I haven't created yet.let's call it field fields as a little.bit confusing but we're kind of working.in the abstract here where were you are.generating fields for making other.fields and below this I have a call to a.helper method to add a link for adding.other fields I'm going to create that.helper method a little later let's do.the partial first though so I'll make it.a new partial let's call it field fields.HTML DRB so in here let's wrap this all.in a field set and let's first display a.select menu for setting the field type.and let's have the options be how about.a text field and a check box for now and.you might want to move these options.often to maybe a constant on the product.field model so that way you can easily.do validations on it to make sure that.it's the fuel type is included in here.and next I'll have a text field for the.name and let's add a placeholder in here.for kind of showing how we want it to.look and then I'll add a checkbox for.the required field and let me add a.label for that as well and then finally.I want a link displayed next to each.field for removing it and I'll just.paste in the code for that it just.involves a hidden field called.underscore destroy and a link which we.will pick up through JavaScript now just.two more things left to make this.functional one is to add that helper.method I mentioned earlier I'll add it.to the.location helper and that is just calling.to add fields and I explained this more.in episode 196 the last thing is to get.the JavaScript working so I'll just.paste some code into the product types.CoffeeScript file and this is modified.slightly from the original episode just.to make it compatible with turbolinks.okay let's try this out reloading the.page we get an ADD field link and so.let's add a few different fields here we.have a text field let's call it author.and let's make another text field let's.call it page count and let's have a.check box let's call it paperback and.let's make the offer text field required.and let's call this product type of book.there we go so we have the ability to.add and remove fields through the.JavaScript let's see if this works we.can create the product type and if we.edit it looks like everything persists.so I think we did everything correctly.and now that we have a way of defining.product types let me make a menu on the.products page when we create a new.product so here's the template for that.page and instead of displaying this link.I would like to display a form tag and.let's go to the new product path and.this is going to be a get request.because we want to trigger that new.action so this let's add a submit tag.called a new product and this should be.named as nil because we don't want to.pollute the URL with a name now I also.want a menu in here so let's make a.select tag and that'll be for studying.the product type ID and let's use.options from collection for select and.pass in I'll just do all the product.types and setting the ID and name.attributes in the menu alright let's try.this out hitting reload and we get our.menu currently can only select a book.type because that's the only product.type and when we created it passes that.ID through the URL which we need to.assign to our new product in the form.and display fields matching that type so.in the products controller a new action.I'll just pass in that product type ID.setting it to at parameter now we have a.problem though and that is that we.haven't ever created that attribute on.the product model that's easy enough to.fix by generating a new migration to add.the type to the products and so that'll.be a product type ID and.we also want to set up some kind of a.place to store the values that are going.to be typed into the forum this is a.little bit tricky because these.attributes are dynamic and are going to.change depending on the type of the.product so we don't want concrete fields.in our database for each one instead we.can use maybe a separate table but an.alternative solution is to just store.them in a serialized hash which works.quite well if you're in a post-grad so I.highly recommend looking into H store.for this which I covered in episode 345.so while we're in this migration let's.make a properties column on this model.and that is just going to be a text type.so we can serialize a hash into it and.of course run the migrations now we can.go into the product model instead of the.Association it actually belongs to the.product type and let's also make that.prototype ID attribute accessible and.also serialize that properties column as.a hash type so now that we have access.to the product type we can loop over the.fields and display them in the form so.let's configure the form template for.the product and before I display the.fields let me add a hidden field here.because we want to persist that product.type ID and now we can add the dynamic.fields I'll put them underneath the.price field and if we manage these.through fields of for call normally you.see feels for when we're working with.associations but we can also use it to.name space field so if we call this.properties then that is going to put.each one inside of the properties hash.so it's automatically going to be.serialized into the database as a hash.when we submit the form now this means.the properties attribute needs to be.accessible on the product model which I.forgot to do is so let me add that real.quick so back in the fields for call.let's display all the different fields.in here which we can access by calling.product dot product type and calling.fields on this so for each of these.fields let's loop through it and we want.the fields to look different depending.on what type they are so we can manage.this through partials so if we render.out a partial here let's put it under.products let's make a fields directory.under there and we can pass in the.fields fields type.as a partial path so that way we can.easily set a different partial for each.of the different field types and let's.pass in the field as an art object into.here and also the F variable which will.be the form builder that needs to be.passed in through our fields for call.here so that way we can a set the.attributes on it so this is looking good.we just need to make the partials now so.that'll be under the products fields.directory and let's make a new partial.for the text field and I'll paste in the.code for this really simple just a label.and a text field contain the field name.in each and then let's make one for the.check box and I'll paste that code in as.well pretty similar.just making check box with a label and.let's try this out reloading the page.and yeah we have our book related fields.here so let's try creating a new book.and by the way refactoring is a great.book I recommend everybody check it out.if you haven't already and let's try.this out and see if these values persist.so we got our book created successfully.no exception is raised but when we try.to edit it again the values aren't.showing up in the form why not well if.we check out our development log we can.see that the properties were submitted.through the parameters and that they.were saved to the database is just not.Reedus playing it through the form the.issue is that the fields for properties.call doesn't detect the serialized hash.and redisplay those values to get around.this problem we can pass in an object.representing the hash but allows getter.methods to be called on it for the.different keys to do that easily we can.just call open struct nil and pass in at.the hash which is the product properties.hash so this way if let's say we make a.text field for the author the form.builder will call author on the object.that's passed in through the second.argument let's try this out and there.are the values let's try the checkbox.too to make sure that persists and that.does as well it works next let's get.validations working because right now we.can submit an offer that's blank but we.marked that field as being required when.we set it up the product type we can do.that easily enough by making a custom.validation method and.product model let's call and validate.properties and let's loop through all.the fields which are for this product so.we can go to product type dot fields and.live through each of these and let's.check if the field is required and that.it's not inside of our properties hash.so our field name value is not blank.actually if it is blank let's call.errors add and for that field name let's.say it must not be blank and we can set.that method up as a validation callback.so validate and let's have a trigger.that method and now if we try submitting.our product without an author we get our.validation message it works next I want.to show you how we can handle more.complex field types because right now.we're just dealing with simple text.fields and checkboxes but what if we.have to.maybe display a multi-select menu where.if we're creating a shirt product we.want to be able to select multiple sizes.that are available for it creating.another field type is quite easy we just.go to the menu where we list them out.and let's make one call to shirt sizes.and then let's make a partial for that.called sure sizes as well and I'll paste.in the code for this so we have a label.and a select menu for the different.shirt sizes and this is a multi select.menu but you could really make this as.complex as you want you could add.checkboxes here instead or whatever else.you need to and now when we create a new.product type let's call it shirt and we.have these shirt sizes field type to.choose from let's call it available.sizes and then we can create this and.then we can create a product for this so.as choose a shirt and when we select.select new product we're able to select.from multiple available sizes and so.let's say a red shirt and the price is a.$9.99 and now when we edit it we can see.the available sizes persisted now this.is going to be serialized as an array.inside the hash so if you are using aged.or something you'll need to handle the.serialization on your own because it.can't store arrays within it and then.finally to finish up this application.I'm just going to go to the product.details page and then.paste in some code to display the.dynamic properties that have been added.so this just goes through each of them.and then it displays the name and a nice.manner and at the value now this won't.look nice for every type of field for.example checkboxes are just going to be.0 or 1 so you'll want to probably maybe.use a partial for the different product.types that we can customize the display.as needed in your application and we can.see that if we go to the product details.here the dynamic properties are listed.below well that finishes up this episode.on making a form more dynamic so you can.add attributes as needed through a.separate form thanks for watching.

First off there are no fees for leaves or requests for leave in any branch of the United States military. Second there is no such thing as a fiancée form in the U.S. military. However these fiancée visas are for foreigners wishing to enter the United States for the purpose of marriage and are valid for 90 days. They have nothing to do with the military and are Continue Reading
