How Do You Get Irs Tithing Where Does It Go On Form 1040 Schedule A 2015 and Sign It On Phone?

hi today I'm going to discuss how to.read your forum schedule a on your.individual tax return which is your.itemized deductions which are deductions.against your income your personal.deductions against your income that you.can take on your tax return your form.1040 or your individual tax return.I went over last time a bit about the.first two pages your return which are.the summary of your entire return and.shows all the important numbers and.today I'm gonna go a little bit more.into detail on the itemized deductions.and how they work so if you see over.here you have the option of either.choosing a standard deduction which as I.said last time is either twelve thousand.dollars bent over twelve thousand.dollars for an individual for a single.individual or up to 24 thousand and.change for a married family and/or you.can choose to have itemized deductions.which you choose you fill out a form.called schedule a and you put all of.your itemized deductions on there and if.it's more than your standard deduction.then you get to take that which is what.you see over here so I'm going to show.you now how to read that schedule a form.so here's a schedule a which is itemized.deductions and it's broken down by.section and I'll go over each section.individually the first section is.medical and dental expenses and this is.one of the sections that most people.don't really understand this but it's.generally it's always limited to seven.point five percent of your adjusted.gross income which is right here which.is from line beyond form a which I'll.show you.right now so you had all of your income.if you remember last time I talked about.all the income you have and it comes.down to your total income and then you.have adjustments that are taken off from.income and that comes down to your.adjusted gross income right here and on.your schedule a that is one of the items.that's used to limit how much of an.itemized how much of itemized deductions.you can take so for medical has a very.high limitation any you can only take.expenses for medical over seven point.five percent of your adjusted gross.income so seven point five percent of.your adjusted gross income right here is.eighteen thousand five forty eight so.since there are total medical and dental.expenses which is comprised of medical.insurance and medical visits a doctor's.medication all that kind of stuff since.that's over that you have a small.deduction but assuming it was under.eighteen thousand five forty eight you'd.be limit completely limited and you.wouldn't be getting a deduction for that.so that's something to be aware of the.next section is taxes and this section.has a bunch of items and it's one of the.most commonly used sections and their.recently it's been limited as well and.I'm going to show you how that's.calculated so the first item is either.state and local income taxes or general.sales tax so if you live in a state.where you're charged income tax you're.gonna use generally your income taxed is.going to be higher than your sales tax.may not always be the case the software.your accountant will calculate that for.you and so you either have your income.tax from the year from the state or you.the sales tax that's basically.calculated on your earnings times a.certain percentage of earnings that you.may have that they calculate you may.have spent over the year on sales tax or.you can actually input items that you.know like if you have large items that.you bought with sales tax so you can put.those items and separately line B is for.state and local real estate taxes and as.you could see the professor and his wife.have a large home and they get charged.lots and real estate taxes so that's a.big number over here and then there's.state and local personal property taxes.most people don't have this it it's very.state-by-state.some you know it depends on on your.state and what kind of text is you have.but it could be on some other item that.you that you have that you pay taxes on.and then you see that it's limited over.here on line 5e you have it says enter.the smaller of line 5d which is the the.some of these items or five or ten.thousand dollars five thousand dollars.if you're married filing separately so.in this case is ten thousand dollars and.as you can see you're limited to ten.thousand dollars for that line item so.and that's another limitation generally.these limitations are more for.high-income individuals they're not.necessarily they don't necessarily come.into play as much for people who are.don't have high income but it's.definitely something to consider now the.next section is interest you paid on.your home and this is going to be.mortgage interest plus points another.note on this and this is really only a.note for.I income individuals is that if your.interest if your property is above a.certain prices changes every year then.the interest expense that you have is.limited so you can't you can't you know.buy a hundred million dollar home and.basically take a loan out on it and.expect to take a deduction right here I.don't even know how much that would be.but let's say a few hundred thousand.dollars of interest you're not gonna get.that the IRS is gonna laugh at you.it's limited to a certain amount every.year and that amount changes year by.year but it's just something to consider.and so this is you're gonna be your.section for interest you paid mostly.it's gonna be for home interest.sometimes I see people have investment.interest expense from you you'll have it.on your form 1099 that you received from.your broker but more more commonly its.this is used for home interest expense.the next section is going to be your.gifts to charity and the first box is.going to be for cash or cheque or.amounts given in cash or cheque or even.I guess if you pay by credit card as.well and then the next item is gonna be.for anything that's made outside of cash.your check in other words if you brought.items to Goodwill or you donated.something else to a charitable.organization and if it's if it's over.two hundred fifty dollars in value then.you need to fill out a form that.basically talks about what is on what.you donated the value of it and.basically how you came to that valuation.in other words they don't want you.bringing in your old broken laptop.that's completely useless and.as viruses on it and saying that it's.worth $5,000 which you paid for it you.know which was the the retail on it way.before you bought it as a scratch intent.item and they don't want you putting.that value in there and saying and.putting that as a deduction they and.this is one item that you have to be.careful of you don't want to mess with.the IRS on this because they will come.and people do this all the time and they.don't want you to go in and write.something that's obviously not that.value so they're looking for you to show.proof that what you donated is actually.worth that amount at this current time.so that's just something to be aware of.there the next item is casualty and.theft loss is not a very common item but.you should know it's there and then.there's there are other items that can.be deducted and generally I don't see.this being used very often so I'm not.going to talk about it but and and.they're also generally limited so but.there are other items out there and if.you're interested in that you can talk.to your friendly local CPA and then that.comes down to your total itemized.deductions and that if it's more than.your standard deduction is going to go.back here on your first page of your.return of your 1040 and it's going to be.take it's going to be a deduction from.your adjusted gross income to arrive at.your taxable income thank you very much.for watching this if you have any.questions about itemized deductions or.anything else tax related or you want me.to make another video and you have a.specific question about something that.you'd like me to answer I'd love to.please if you enjoy this video please.like subscribe and share it and I hope.to see you again in the future thank you.very much for watching have a great day.
